Soul Food

This is where I go to soothe my soul...

Today I'm in my garden.  I'll be ruining my manicure, attacking weeds and basking in the glory that is nature.  There is nothing like it, is there?

  1. That is just gorgeous! I think I would spend all day there too. I love this time of year when all the flowers are blooming and my garden is going nuts. =]

  2. Fabulous! I'd love to join you in the destruction of weeds and, of course, my manicure :)

  3. Gorgeous gardens. Still too early here for flowers. Have a great weekend.

  4. I've spent a lot of time in my own garden the past couple of months. It kind of takes away the stiff neck, upset stressed stomach, and headaches. Actually, I think a lot of us have been in our gardens lately, courtesy of the world we are living in! Gardening truly IS good for the soul.

  5. It has been a long cold winter up here and things are just beginning to bloom. Your garden is an inspiration.

  6. Beautiful! I've just started gardening this year. After finally dumping my ex, I'm starting to remember that there are actually things out there that *I* like to do! And gardening is one of them!!!!

  7. Gorgeous!!

Should I be alarmed that you're growing such a large display of poppies?

Enjoy the dirt! My mother swears that it's the best therapy on Earth, and I totally agree.

  8. Wow. That's a BIG garden. Are you sure you don't need some professional help?

I know I do. But not for gardening. hee hee

  11. Spring is in the air.

Your garden meshes perfectly with the mountain next door.

    Serenity indeed.

    ReplyDelete
  12. So you sooth your soul in a field of poppies? Not that I'm judging or anything.

    ReplyDelete
  13. How beautiful! Enjoy your day.

  14. Those poppies are very beautiful, and your garden looks as lovely as you are, VKMom...

And, what do you mean, you don't go to the mini-bar, or liquor store, to unwind after all??! xox

  15. Niiice. Makes me want to enhance the boring bushes in front of my house. I have nothing out there except those little bushes and old fallen leaves!

  16. I wish my garden was blooming, but there's nothing as yet. Yes, some greening up, but that's it. I keep hoping the day lilys will sprout soon, but I know it's ridiculously early for May in Michigan.

But today is gorgeous in Michigan (rain later) and I have your flowers to feast my eyes upon.

  17. Enjoy your day, I am doing the same. I love your flowers they are beautiful and thick. Gorgeous!!!

  21. I hate gardening.

    Nice flowers though.

Just been chatting to my wife - we're probably moving house soon.

"What kind of garden would you like?" she asked.

    "One without grass," I said.

"What if is the perfect house but has grass?"

"I'll pay someone to dig it up," I replied.

(as a lifestyle choice I don't mow grass)

  22. I wish I could garden without killing the plants. I can't seem to manage it.

    ReplyDelete
  23. So lovely! I wish I could manage a lovely flower garden!

  37. oh funny story for you....i just found out my stepmom has lung cancer and only 15 months to live. one of the fellow teachers found out and came running in my room during show and tell and i immediately started crying because i knew she knew and all of my emotions just poured out- with a hannah montana doll in my lap, i put my head in my lap as well. the kids started yelling "don't cry on the toys!!!"
what a sensitive bunch they are.

    ReplyDelete
  38. And to think ... I thought you went to the liquor store for soul soothing.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Your flowers are gorgeous! Makes my puny bed and pots look like a second grader planted them-or my husband. That would soothe my soul!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Nope; nothing like it. Beautiful.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Beautiful poppy bed! I will have to check your profile ... you must live a little south of Ohio. My poppies are just growing. I also saw an old fashioned bleeding heart.... And the blue flowers??? I am stumped. They look like a perennial?

Thank you for sharing. I love to garden. I did a post earlier this week? on how I like to garden competitively with my neighbors.

We are also to the finish line!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Ok... I looked closer. I think the blue ones are bachelor buttons. And, in the close up... I spotted some shasta daisies mixing it up.

  43. Beautiful.

I wish I could garden. My mother can and has beautiful plants in her yard.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Those flowers are simply good for the soul.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Beautiful! I don't have a manicure but I also don't like to garden! I love my 4 rose bushes that supply my house with pretties, that's enough for me. Your flowers are wonderful!

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  55. I wish I loved gardening, it seems to be so therapeutic for so many people.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Such beautiful flowers. I too love to garden but mainly, it's a good excuse for me to play in the dirt! LOL I hope that it's just the relaxing and peace that you need.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Can I come help? So much more fun to work in beauty already in full swing than thinking of digging the compost piles into my garden and beginning the planting, two months late. So beautiful. I'd have to cut and bring those inside.

    ReplyDelete
  58. So worth the ruined manicure (and a good excuse to go get another one!!). Hope you are having a great Momma's Day weekend!!

    ReplyDelete
  59. I needed to do that today too but instead I went to the beach. I'm such a bad girl.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Lovely spot in your garden. The beauty of flowers never fails to give us hope.
    Have a good day!

  61. p.s. The bleeding hearts have a place in your garden, don't they? Funny how the bleeding heart can add to the beauty and the depth of a garden. Even that has its place.

    Happy Mother's Day.

  65. Gorgeous flowers! I'm soothed by playing in the dirt and tending to flowers too... Enjoy.

    ReplyDelete
  66. What a great Mother's Day treat to see all your blooming flowers. The gardens around here won't look anything like that for a few weeks, mine included. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  67. Simply Beautiful. That is, the fact that you can post pictures of flowers and get 70 comments and I post a picture of my cleavage and get 3. And you wonder why I drink?

    ReplyDelete
  68. gorgeous. I'm trying to have something of a garden - something that I won't kill too easily. I'm hoping for no more frost so I can plant the pretty flowers that are hanging out in my garage.

    Enjoy!

  73. That does look like a place of replenishment. I need a place like that. Right now I'm going to the side yard where there are budding wisteria vines growing across our large arbor. Sometimes it's shady and cool enough in there to hang out. Alas, the kids or the dogs always find me in short order.

Happy Mama's Day. Enjoy your garden.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Is that yours? It is beautiful. I love poppies. I wish I had some.

    ReplyDelete
  75. That is just beautiful!

Looks like my grandmother's gardens from way back! People just don't have pretty gardens like that any more.

I found that even working on the weeding, etc. was fun in a pretty garden like that! I'm so jealous!

  83. I spent time in my garden this weekend too, but your's looks better than mine. Are those poppies? Do you feel compelled to quote the Wicked Witch when you're in that part of the garden?
Hell with the manicure - that garden is worth it!

    ReplyDelete
  84. These are gorgeous, Vodka! I cannot wait for mine to come up this summer :o)

  85. I passed a garden with the exact same poppies yesterday. It was a great morning lift. I adore them.
