Hey, Mr. Sign Guy...

Yes, is this the Department of Motor Vehicles? Are you the people that put up the signs on the highway?

Yeah, well call me CRAZY, but when I was driving on the Interstate yesterday, June 26, in 83 degree weather and I saw the sign that said “Bridge May Be Icy”……..I was skeptical.

I’m just sayin’.

psssst I'm also over at Ann's. come visit. she rocks.

  1. My gorgeous garden thought that was really funny. Not as funny as your weed patch, but funny just the same.

  2. ya reckon they may not remember where those winter signs get posted and forget to remove them?

  3. It's kinda like being on a plane which will fly over a desert and the stewardess tells you to grab you seat cushion as a floatation device.

  4. I like the deer pronking signs. I'm not sure if they're supposed to be crossing or dancing. Either way, it looks fun! Just so long as they don't hit my car!

  5. yeeeeaaaah.. I'd be calling them too..

LMAO@ Pop and Ice.. I have never heard "pronking" and since I am drunk.. it is even funnier

  6. Sounds like a secret government experiment to me. I'd bring a bazooka when I cross that bridge if I were you.

  7. Slightly behind schedule I would say! I hope you were cautious!

  8. We have signs on the local beach warning of dangerous, turbulent waters. In two years I have never seen a wave ... Who knows, maybe there is one coming soon ...

  10. Hee, hee ... we have one of those in our area, too - although, no bridge, just 'Watch for Ice'. LOL! Those really should be seasonal signs.

  11. We have a country road in my old town that has a sign that just says "crossing". There isn't any RR tracks or another road, or anything.

just this long road and a crossing sign.

    I wonder what crosses there?

  12. I've had that same sense of doubt when I see those signs lately.

I thought I was the only one who noticed.

  13. wouldn't you have shit if it actually was icy?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Well, strictly speaking, it is correct.

"I just put 'em up, ma'am, I don't write 'em"

Maybe in winter they change to "Bridges May Be Dry".

  15. With the weather being so wishy-washy of late, the DOT may have thought it best to keep them up year round... just in case.

  16. I've never thought about it, but it's pretty funny. Thanks for making me smile!

    Stoppin by from SITS!

  17. I was travelling through a construction site once and saw two signs, one on each side of the road. One said "Merge Right" and the other said "Merge Left."

    Um . . .

  18. yep I laugh every time I pass the one right up the road. Hello, Mississippi here on the coast...we get no winters! Or Ice or Snow...and now NO rain!

  19. We have some that say, "Bridge Freezes Before Roadway." I don't have a better way to put it, but I always imagine a strip-show, with the bridge doing a kind of ice-tease in front of the road....

  20. Pop and Ice- yep I am taking that word pronking and will be using it from now on...haven't heard it either. Seeing that my spell checker tell me it is incorrect..I will ignore it being ...
    you are a teacher ;-0

  21. fret not, they're intended for winter conditions... too costly to take them down only to put them back again....

  22. Hey, you were in New England, it could happen.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I slowed down, becaue I figured they couldn't post it if it wasn't true..............

    ReplyDelete
  24. maybe they were just seeing if you were paying attention

  25. I've always thought it was insensitive to broadcast to everyone that there were "Slow Children" in some neighborhoods.

  26. In Michigan I have seen many deer cross the roads, but never at the deer crossing sign...

  27. Like the warning lables on EVERYTHING now, our litigious society is to blame for stoopid signage:

Iron - "Do not press clothing while it is still on your body."

Ceiling Fan - "Keep children's heads away from spinning blades."

McDonald's Coffee Cups - "Contents are hot and could cause burns if it spills while you hold container in lap while driving."

  28. I saw that same sign in Virginia Beach last summer when we were there, it cracked me up also!

  29. I noticed alot of those last week as I traveled through Georgia - which is not particularly icy this time of year.

  30. they may be. . . they may not be.

    Hey, anything's possible!

  31. Cold Snap?

Maybe they're expecting one. Y'never know.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Maybe you were actually in Hell and someone thought it was about to freeze over.

    ReplyDelete
  33. They probably did that for me, because they know i'm just waiting for chance to slip on some ice and sue! I've been eyeing your state for quite a while. I think it would make a nice vacation home.

  34. Down here in 105 degree land, we would cherish a sign like that. For one brief moment we can imagine icy road conditions, cold, brisk, breezy. Ahhh.

    See? Every little bit helps.

  35. We have those signs on our bridges too, but they usually are the type that fold in half during the warmer months.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Maybe someone spilled a drink...I'm just saying..."Watch for falling rocks". ;-)

  37. Hi VM,

I know what you mean. They leave those “Hurricane Evacuation Route” signs up year round here in Florida and I always catch myself thinking… “Did I miss something?”

Playing catch-up on my post reading…
