Warning: Blogging can cause excessive weed-aches. (aka The Great American Weed Sale; which has nothing to do with the previous post.)

Before I started blogging my garden looked like this:

And now, it looks like this.

  1. Look at it this way. Had you not been an experienced blogger you wouldn't have had the good common sense to take pictures of your lovely garden in the first place so that when it went to pot (no pun intended) later in your blogging life you'd have proof you actually had a garden that bloomed once upon a time and get to spend more time reading run-on sentences in your comment section from other bloggers with weeds and no grammatical skills whatsoever. Put that red pen down.

    See how life works out?

  2. This is too funny and I DO understand. I tried to dig an escape hatch to China but the weeds said, "no way, we don't need no stinkin' rice."

Check my post out called "Tranquil Gardening..."

  4. I don't know whether to cry or to celebrate. Whenever I think of gardens I admire, I think about yours, (from when you were a lesser known blogger ;)
These pics bring you down to the level and my little patches of color a little more accomplished.
The question is, what's my excuse?!

  6. Oh my goodness. I can feel your frustration from Down Under! Yes. Umm, well, best of luck with that. My thoughts are with you as I look on from afar (with glass of champagne in my hand).

  7. I am having just the opposite problem... My neighbors keep giving me plants and out of guilt I have been trying to keep them weed free...hence edging into my blogging time. :(

  10. Amazing what falls by the wayside when blogging becomes the be all to end all.

  11. Oh I can relate. But blogging is far more fun than weeding....so blogging usually wins.

  12. Um, I prefer to think of my gardens as English-style, not weedy. I keep telling the perennials that are choking to death that those 8' tall things attract better butterflies so they're staying.

If it weren't for the humidity, I'd be out there right now too. The semi colon made my heart flutter.

  13. Weeds are plants too. If you blog only when it's dark you won't have an excuse for a weedy garden.

  14. Yep, between blogging and a couple of unexpected surgeries during the last gardening season my garden was totally taken over by a transplant from a friend that sent out runners everywhere. I had to get control this spring because this getting old stuff stinks. Bending and weeding may be good exercise, but not for a deteriorating back. Good luck reigning it in!

  15. I like to weed the flowerbeds with the weedeater, doesn't kill em but slows em down. LOL

  16. THAT is precisely the reason I do not have a garden.

Time required, aching back, and guilt, shame, and frustration every time I looked at it.

Luckily for me, I visit my Mom three times a week and she has a fantastic flower garden.

  17. Your garden still looks way better than mine! Pot might be an easy growing option.

  18. I could probably put up a picture of my butt before and after blogging for 2+ years, but it's not so pretty.....

  19. Wait, are you kidding me? There is a disease that happens when you start blogging and it causes those weeds to grow? This is a lightbulb moment for me. For WEEKS I have been wondering why the hell there were weeds in my garden. It's blogs. Blogaddictitis.

  20. Solve it like my mom did with her soap operas. You bothered her, and you had to go pull a bucket of weeds or some other outdoor task.
