I DO have the most important job in the world. And I don't take it lightly.

I totally stole this from Wacky Mommy. And it made me cry. If you have three minutes, please take the time to watch it to the end.

I have never been more proud of what I do.

  1. Awww, thanks. You made me cry on my lunch hour. :)
You are so incredible. I bow down to anyone who teaches my children. My crazy, wacky, wonderful, active, brilliant children.

  2. Oh that made me cry too. I'm blaming the massive amounts of prednisone they're making me take. I've been crying at EVERYTHING.

(Aren't you glad you're not visiting with me THIS week?)

    : )

    xo Love you!

  3. That was amazing.

The truth is, teachers MAKE a huge difference, but aren't PAID nearly enough for it.

  8. Wow, that was amazing! I would very much like to share it with the 90 teachers at the school where I work! He really nailed the best possible answer!

  9. Wow amazing, gives you a new respect for teachers (not that I didn't think they were awesome to begin with). Almost makes me want to become one...Maybe if I had more patience...

  12. BRAVO! BRAVO! That was beautiful! And it made me cry too. Thank you for the difference you make in every single child's life that comes through your classroom!

  13. OK! I am DEFINITELY (see? I spell it correctly all the time!) stealing this and putting it on Facebook!! And I did get a little choked up because it's BEAUTIFUL.

It reminds me of all the Catholic school teachers who drilled the multiplication tables and spelling words into me in grade school!

And of Mrs. Krebs who was tiny and didn't take crap from anyone in World Cultures class and made me love learning about Europe, and Sister Peter Claver who made me love Spanish Class! Thank you, ladies!

  14. This was definitely beautiful I sent it to my sister, a first grade teacher.

  15. I've seen this before, and love it. I'm glad you posted it again, though. I needed to hear it today. After hearing teachers joke about paying someone to break a student's leg at the school I'm observing, this is a reminder of why I'm subjecting myself to the full-time school/full-time job craziness in order to become a teacher: so I can make a difference.

  16. Lovely! That is why our teachers are one of our most important resources! What they give our kids is the future!!

Thank God for every teacher who insists that kids learn!

And thank you to each and every teacher who ever stepped into a classroom. You are a gift from God!

  17. My district had him (Taylor Mali) as our keynote speaker for our first day of Inservice a few years ago. He was amazing....Truly incredible. If you do a You Tube search for him, you can see more about his work. But, as an inspirational speaker for a group of educators, he was absolutely unbelievable. Best inservice speaker ever....

  19. Absolutely incredible. Vodkamom he's talking about YOU.

Teachers like you are the hope and gift of the entire world.

"Education is not the filling of a pail but the lighting of a fire."

    Frank(for one) is definitely a firecracker :)

  20. I LOVE this!! I'm a nurse (I do a little teaching at my job!) and a MOM (I do a LOT of teaching at that job). I'm grateful for so many teachers along the way, & I'm sharing this with all the teachers I know! Thank you.

**Hilarious!! My word verification is "grade"

  21. I must not have had THIS particularl teacher -- I always misspell definitely (definately). So true about the meaningful work. I mean, what is more meaningful than empowering our children with education?

  22. A director I once worked with told me my problem was that I expect the very best from myself and that is why I expect the very best from others.

He told me to relax my standards.

I told him I would make a good teacher. And that's why so many people came to me for advice.

  24. Thank you. After watching this video I had to find out more. I googled Mr. Mali and found his website. He quit teaching a few years ago to pursue poetry and speaking. But when he quit he made himself a promise to inspire 1000 people to become teachers. Today you helped him. Because today I went to a college fair with my 16 year old daughter. She's been thinking of becoming a teacher. I showed her this video. She said "That's it! That's what I've been trying to say. That is what I want to do. I want to make a difference."

  25. Oh TKRBL!! Your comment has me all kinds of choked up! I hope your daughter becomes a fabulous teacher!

  26. Darn! I hate weeping! We go to public school in LA and I can tell you EVERY DAY I thank the powers that be for our teachers. You make all the difference! (Teachers and the moms who bake for the events - LOVE those moms - especially the ones who make brownies from scratch.)

  27. That was awesome. I love it! And yes, that makes me proud. We need those reminders that what we're doing matters, don't we?!

  30. My son, now 22 yrs old says, "Wow, that's amazing! Every teacher should get to hear this!"

    ReplyDelete
  31. That was wonderful. And, as the spouse of a teacher, I can vouch that it's true. (Except the part that implies that all lawyers are so awful as to put down the wonderful teachers in their lives!) :)
