One of the strategies is something that most of us already know- surround the children with the written word.
We love the clever ideas for posters that help the children with some popular word endings, and have them posted around the board at the front of our room so that they can be seen from the tables.
Some of them are "The King if ING",
the "Wiz of IS,"
the "Star of ARE,"
and the "Hand of AND."
Today, I introduced the "Glove of Of."
After the kids left I turned to wipe off the board, only to notice this:
Yeah. I was flipping off the class MOST of the day. The shocking part? No one noticed. Not me, not my para, not the 22 fifth-grade bookbuddies, and not even FRANK.
Santa has EVERYONE distracted these days.

Don't get too relaxed .. tomorrow parents might start calling, asking you about the drawings the children have been doing at home, giving everyone the finger.
:) Especially Frank.
It's probably because the glove looked more like a church with a nice steeple and a little thumbs up vestibule. And church's are in keeping with the holidays, right?
SNORT!!!
When I saw the picture I thought maybe Frank or Stanley had done it!!
Ah.. gotta love the crazy season!
M
can't wait for the "what? what? of but"..
And you wonder where Frank gets it from. ; )
You lucked out big time, I think.
hehe...frank is slipping...
Our school uses it too. Suddenly I feel the need to drop an email to my son's kindergarten teacher as a warning.
lol That is too funny. Santa is a pretty big distraction!
TOO FUNNY! Reminds me of one of my substitute teachers for 4th grade, she was trying to draw a hand (she wasn't really much of an artist) and the middle finger turned out WAY too long...Kids started snickering and whispering to each other before one brave kid blurted out that it looks like the hand is "flickin someone the bird".
She laughed, blushed, erased and started over;continuing like nothing happened.
Not as good as yours....But it was for us back then :)
The things teachers do sometimes...(I totally blogged about that!)
I would have totally noticed. Come on, I'm thinking that one of the fifth graders couldn't resist when you back was turned.
I'm just sayin!!
:))
add an "f" and you've got Eff Off :D
Now this is over the top! You have me laughing out loud!
Teacher, this is sort "of" . . . well totally funny.
But, what "of" it, right?
Only if, it had been parent teacher conference night. It could have been the life "of" the party!
hehehe I noticed. I would have been THAT kid.
Somehow I'm sneaking on to blogger at school today to show my classroom team this one. Too funny. xo
LOL and brilliant! Anytime children are reading and writing is a good time. Well done.
Ha, looks like the fickle finger OF fate. :-)
Now if I have a hankering to give the finger, I'm going to say to myself, "I'm giving you The Glove of Of." LOL!
Pfffft! I'm actually betting Frank was the one who folded the rest of the fingers down! LOL.
Super funny!
I think Frank must be slipping!
Hmmmm, I wonder if that was Freudian. =)
Can't believe Frank missed that opportunity. Maybe he's trying to get on the "nice" list :-)
jj
Oh, did that make me bust out laughing!!
And, yeah, you think Frank would've been versed in this type of sign language.
Layla is sitting with me and she picked it off FAST! I am praying that she and Frank do not somehow Find Each Other...
OMG.....too FUNNY! I'm a para and I think I would've noticed......LOL!
I like it! Subtle, yet funny! I think we've all had those days at work where we feel like that, but we can't just say it!
Lol, that is too funny!!
