I might have to start stalking my new hero.

I'm not even going to muddy this up with crazy rhetoric.

Well done, Mr. Stewart. Well done.

  1. Too bad Jon is already married. He's even hotter to me now ;)

Part time...whatever. Nothing annoys me more than complete and total ignorance.

  2. haha too funny. I wish someone would do a skit on our future, you know, the *children* in about 10-20 years. Show how behind we are because schools and teachers can't afford to actually teach them.

  6. Nobody says it like Jon Stewart. Sing it, man.

I just need to make sure you heard the joke going around about the corporate exec, the tea-partier and the union rep. If not, email me!

  8. I kinda got stuck half way through on the teacher thing. I imagine your teachers in the USA are similar to those in Australia and there is absolutely nothing part time about them. Bloody hell.
I have no idea who this Jon Stewart dude is (and what many of these issues are about) but I'm kinda liking him ...
Ok, back to watch the rest ...
    Cheers

  9. I'm de-lurking.
    I absolutely love John Stewart.
I can not believe the stuff that comes out of some people's mouths (Fox). How can they possibly look people in the face and spout that rubbish, teachers working part time ha bloody ha!
Sometimes I wonder whether they actually went to school and learnt anything, they seem to have a strangle hold on total ignorance and stupidity.
Can't stand Fox and I'm embarrassed that it is owned by a fellow Aussie and he lets crap like that air!
    Yay for the Daily Show.

  14. De-lurking :)

    Jon is awesome.

I need tea this morning because it's frightening to me how easily adults in power can overlook what is best for their kids.

Do these nutjobs think that when these kids are grown and unskilled that they'll have any desire to care for an elder generation that let them down?

    Ugh...

  17. I *did* watch the whole thing!
    And i'm only a *part-time* lurker.

    Huh. Told her!

    =-)

But seriously? I worked at a local public elementary (volunteer for 6 years and as paid staff for about 5 years, and drove school buses for about 8 years at LMNtary and Middle schools). I KNOW (most of) the teachers i met are Hard Working People who truly care about children.
I have a problem, however, with states like coughNewYorkcough that have unions where there are teachers in the system who *CANNOT* be fired, who show up everyday for work, but just sit in an empty room NOT teaching because they are UNFIT teachers!
I think THAT is a damn crying shame! I think THAT should be outlawed! I think THAT gives ALL the other teachers in this country a bad name, and a slap in the face and a punch to the groin.

    Okay.
NOW you want me to go back to my corner?

    I love you VM!
    =-)

  18. I'm still trying to figure out what word he said that was bleeped out.

Quite frankly, for all of the BS that I see educators dealing with when I help out in my daughter's school or go on field trips, $76K simply wouldn't be enough...

  19. I saw your tweet about this yesterday and I was dying. My favorite line is "Maybe your mom was a shitty teacher!"

  20. Meet you at Loehmann's Deb...
    3 ish? :)

  21. Oh my goodness, soooooooooo hilarious! Even daycare teachers are working at home after their shifts end, I know that first hand. Anyone who thinks teachers don't work effing hard is an idiot. Like you said before, I wonder what THEIR teachers are thinking about all of this?! My goodness.

  22. Even I found that funny, and I didn't understand half of it....
    :)))

  23. OMG.
Yeah teachers work part time. Some people are so stupid.

I think I might love John Stewart.

  24. I would LOVE to hear what that guy's mother has to say about him calling her out as never working after 3!!!!

I am a preschool teacher- of 2 year olds for crying outloud!- and work after school and weekends on lessons, finding interesting things for the kids, new activities, emailing nervous parents, sending links to articles about potty training and biting, working on our class website, editing pictures, writing funny anecdotes about our day, getting activities ready for the next day, looking up and printing out state standards as they apply to our projects... that doesn't even include what i do during the actual class!! it's way more than painting and changing diapers.
Although I must admit, my neighbors are very jealous of my '99 SUV with the dent in the back. What can I say, I like to show off with all that money I make.

  25. We don't have Loehmann's up here, but my son and I were cracking up the day after that aired, because at three o'clock...we were shopping in a discount store. (But then I went home and wrote and IEP and thought about finishing my report cards.)
    Jon Stewart is my hero.
Love your new layout over here. Hope all is well with you and yours. xo
