I am home from my trip, and have been searching high and low for any signs of questionable activity from the girls.
I have found none.
However, I remember when MY parents left my sister and ME alone for a weekend.
We had a huge party.
With a band.
In the living room.
All Weekend.
Yeah. I’m gonna continue this search. I KNOW the apples don’t fall far from the tree.

I'm glad you're home safe my lovely...oh and watch out, cos apples can donk you on the head and hurt :)))
And here I thought when you returned home you found that the girls had gone shopping and filled the fruit bowl for you.
:) Your feed isn't showing up on my reader! :(
Anyway. Glad everyone's alive! Hope you had fun!
Good grief. I hope they don't let you down.
Holy cow, and you guys got AWAY with that?
I would've never been able to get away with a party. My parents have spies all over the place.
:]
Glad to see you're home safe and sound.
Its the fact that yu can't find anything wrong is how you know there was a party. Thats how my parents knew anyway. They loved it. They would leave for weekends just so they could come home to a perfect house!
Perhaps the party was at some other darling kids' house. You just never know. Bwahahahahahahahaha.
Keep searching oh trusting one. Big hug. :)
Oh just wait till they confess when they're 35.
The story will be so much better by then.
Wait, didn't you find a CONDOM last time?!?!
Heads would be CHOPPED OFF!
They might be REALLY good at covering their tracks. You'll hear about it--in about 10 years!
Maybe someone else's parent went away and the party was at their house?
Just don't look in the closet or under the couch cushion! LoL
I am glad you are home.. you might want to bring in CSI just to see what they were up to!
Check the following:
Garbage bags. (We never remembered to buy more)
Paper Towels/Toilet Paper supply (Ditto)
The banister (To this day, we're not sure how it got reattached upside down)
Behind the plants. Without fail evidence turned up there later.
Of course my ex's dad always knew when we had a party because we cleaned up too well and 9 times out of 10 we drained and filled the hot tub. That and in the course of a week/10 days the cat always gained weight because it had the munchies.
My mom KNEW I had a party because the house was "Extra Clean" when she got home she said. LOL
Check under the beds. There may still be a straggler sleeping or something.
Well, when I was that age I never had huge parties... I just had small, intimate sleepovers.... COED sleepovers. That's why the house was never a disaster. 6 or 7people don't make too big a mess.
So, the big question is- Does YOUR bed look slept in??
Upon returning home if within 24 hours you haven't 1) heard from the neighbors, 2) heard from other parents, or 3) heard from the police - it doesn't mean nothing happened. It only means they're very good at it.
A live band? Really? I don't think I could have ever done something like that. Both of my parents are cops though, so it could be the scared shitless factor that prevented me from trying.
My parents used to set traps like making their bed a certain way or leaving their closet door at just a certain spot to see if anyone disturbed their stuff.
I like to put a piece of scotch tape at a secret spot on a file drawer to see if my MIL gets into things while watching our kids.
Oooh Hit 40, you are sly! Good ideas. I guess you learned that from your parents, huh? I'll have to remember those.
Yes, I would say they have learned from one of the best ...LOL keep searching..you won't know for another 20 years when they finally confess :-)..about how long it took for me!
Reminds me of the time Mark and I had a teenage boy watch our house (before we had kids). Came home to a very clean house, which made me immediately suspicious. Found the mop absolutely filthy, and then found the used rubber on the bedroom floor. Not very good at covering his tracks, that one...but at least my house got cleaned, haha!
A friend of mine and her brother had a party when her parents went out of town...they cleaned the house so there were no traces of the festivities left; so they thought. Their parents came home and found a roach (of the marijuana persuasion) on the stairs. Their parents grounded them for setting off fireworks in the house...lmao
How do you like them apples? :)
We always cleaned the house super spotless...
but there was the time someone left a burnhole in the shower curtain.
and a bra under the couch cushions..
it's always the damn details that give you away.
Peace - Rene
They hired a cleaner.
Hmmm, I don't think mine are smart enough for all these ideas. Maybe I should be glad and know that I will catch them? I also had intimate gatherings so was never caught :)
Mmmm...I vaguely remember a high school party where I drank too much, puked on may parents' new carpet, then tried to convince them my best friend and I had just been watching movies and spilled a double tray of 7-11 chili cheese nachos.
S.P. hosted a high school party where they spotlessly cleaned the entire rec room but forgot to empty the trash can that was half full of beer caps.
Now the question is, did we grow up to have children who will be EXACTLY LIKE US? Lord help us all...
Hopefully they had an epic party with no bad consequences.
Let's hope this time, those big ass apples fell miles, and miles away from the tree. Remember this, our kids can sometimes, not often, really surprise the hell out of us.
I was totally busted on a party I held at my parent's house in the 80's when they found a cigar in the microwave! My friend's and I had worked so hard to clean and hide all the evidence, but some ass clown apparently had tried to light his stogie in there!
just because they can clean it up,doesn't mean it didn't happen...lol
I heard a story this past week from my son that happened while we were on a trip four years ago. Guess he thinks he safe to tell since he's turned 21. . .
Sitting with a friend and her mum the subject of teenage parties came up, her mum asked, without fear of recrimination as the event was 15 years in the past, how after she had been away for the weekend, someone had thrown up on the ceiling. She had not asked at the time as she really did not think she would like the answer, but felt that she could take it now. My friend explained that her and her 2 siblings were incapacitated through drink and a third party had been ill in the living room. One of the less drunk guest decided to hoover up the mess and mid way through the task hit the wrong switch and fire the contents of the hoover straight at the celling.
The comment above was not what i came here to leave but the thing just came out, in fact it will form part of my next post, which is what i came here for. You will be my blog of the week on Monday, nominated by Poler girl, i'm telling you now as i will be busy on monday and am writing the blog today.
Just like Bretts Mum, wait for a while. It took my Mum ten years to find out about my party... ;o)
I had a big party one time while my parents were out of town, and I was awesome at cleaning up... the house was SPOTLESS. Until they came home and found beer stains on the ceiling. Whoops.
The big parties never worry me. It's the small intimate ones that get me all stressed out!
I'm with Hit40 & Paige Lacey.
Two words: Hidden camera.
You might not like what you see, but at least you'll know. They even have wireless cameras now that will transmit video right to your computer, and you can check in any time via the internet.
And if you don't like feeling guilty for spying on them, you can always tell them it's there - just knowing that you could be watching them at any time should be enough to keep things under control.
I don't have teens yet, but I was one once. Oh, the stuff I got away with...
My worst one was the time hubby #2 and I went away for a week, leaving his son alone. When we got back, he'd turned the house into a skateboard park....
I had a party when my parents were gone. I'd continue checking.
My Baby Sister did the same once when Parental Units were in Ecuador...called BIg Sis in Charleston to come put everyone out because they wouldn't leave...it was a four hour drive that I made in almost 3...to say I was speeding would be to admit guilt...so lets just say I flew...we'll say that, okay? After house clearing and cleaning I took her home with me! Keep looking, those apples are probably under the sofa...

Oh lord my daughter was a handful at that age and believe me, the apple (peach in my case) doesn't fall far from the tree.
I'm counting on the fact that my tree produced pears and not apples. One apple (me!) is more than enough for this household. My kids need to be different....
Kids today are waaay smarter than we were...I don't mean to suggest there was no party - just that they can probably cover their tracks in a way we couldn't fathom. Seriously, we don't stand a chance :)
You're awesome! You actually had a band instead of a boombox radio?!
Based on past experience, if it's cleaner than how you left it, a party was had. And it was a good time. :-)
xoxo
AHA! Keep us posted. :o)
Yep, it's all buttoned up and hidden well until the trooper stops your mom and asks how her daughter is doing after that rave at the house...
Tell Sassy and Bitchy I could hear them all the way in Texas...see if they blink. :)
You can smell smoke and where there's smoke, there's fire. Kudos to the girls on smart and efficient cover-up.
Are you sure one didn't kill the other and she's just hiding the body really well?
Hey! Maybe they behaved themselves!! LOL!
Get this - my parents went to China for THREE WEEKS one summer. When four of us were in high school. With semi-responsible chaperones. TO-GA! TO-GA!
A friend of mines step son had a party at their house and took pictures so that everything would be put back in the right place. Everything looked good until she lifted up a shell and there were beer caps under it. Ooops.
Keep searching!
