Hello?? Who IS this?
I have an adorable little fella in my class this year who I am SURE is going to give me a run for my money.
His name is Jackson, and his hair has a hint of red, and his face is kissed with a sweet splash of freckles. He talks non-stop, cannot stop moving and yet I know in my heart he is trying his very best.
Today while I was talking to the very quiet children and stressing the important of rules, I heard him in the back of the group CHATTERING away.
Me: "Jackson. Jackson!!! WHO are you TALKING to???"
Jackson: "I am talking to God!"
Me: (Not wanting to offend the very person I've been trying to contact...) "Well, please tell him you're busy and you'll chat with him after school. Now come on up here and join us. Please."
Yeah. I DO believe this little fella is my new best friend.

I'm not letting my first grader read this lest he come up with this line. My first grader would totally use this as a line, while my 4 year old would be right there w/ Jackson.
That is too precious. I would keep a flask in your desk if this kid is in class all year!
oh, how adorable - next time ask him to put in a good word for you! Cheers!
How could you not love a little boy like that
So so cute.
Okay that is awesome!!! xoxo
Wonderful! You need more kids like him. We ALL need more kids like him. You are lucky to have him
Maybe he's got a direct line?
wow...if he gets any results can I have his number?
This kid will probably be running the joint soon!
Do you think he could put in a few good words for me?
xoxo
I can see he's going to supply you with tons of funny material too. Just saying.
Have a terrific day. :)
Saw your comment on Comedy Goddess' blog about the goddamn phone. Thought I'd come over and introduce myself since evidently we have the same mother.
a chuckle from my whole family! i read it aloud, as i laughed the first time and well laughed again!
thanks for making my manic monday end with a smile!
Fart little smella! I mean...smart little fellow!
Maybe Jackson will be your medium! You never know!
You're making me want to give up my high school teaching gig and switch to kindergarten. You always have such cute stories about your kids - so sweet and innocent. Mine are just... just... well, they're a lot less sweet and cute and innocent. Let's just leave it at that.
Your love of your job is obvious, and I'm willing to bet you're darn good at it, too.
Hey, I just bought a lotto ticket. Have him put in a word for me. I'll make it worth your while if I win. His too.
Better watch out for that kid, he has an inside track to God.
I always hate it when they are smarter and quicker than I am!
Can he pass along some messages/requests?
So cute..does God text?
I wonder if he'd use OMG or would it be just OM? And does God LOL?
Peace - Rene
Did Jackson happen to mention what God had to say back to him? 'Cause I'd really like to know.
thats awesone! i am in the i wanna know what he said back group. at least you know he is hanging out in the room...
he's not the only brilliant one! good job, vodka mom.
or... invite the big guy to the show 'n tell!
Haha, I love it! How old is he? He sounds like my preschool students- they're too funny!
Adorable. And a great comeback. Who is willing to question an answer like that?!
Holy moly! Do you think you could ask him to see if God is still made at me?? Maybe he could pass a note that says "Are you done smoting?" Check yes or no.
please don't let him add the "maybe" box though. It would be too much
Keep an eye on little Jackson. God can give him permission to do a lot of things. And God trumps the teacher, don't you know.
Wow, what a great comeback! He's either very spiritual or just a bit manipulative ;) Had to tell you that I think of you almost every morning while Katie is getting dressed...and picking out her hair accessories. Had her back to school night tonight. Some of the kids are new to the program and were eager to find out how their kids have been behaving. One mom asked, Is he having problems with peeing outside at all? Ummmm...I think I may have pulled the teacher aside for that one...lol.
Yeah. I'm thinking anyone with a direct link to God mint be worth keeping in your corner.
oh my gosh...so sweet..i wonder what they were talking about...
"his face is kissed with a sweet splash of freckle"
Oh, I like that.
I wish I had thought of that one.
That's awesome. And well handled, I might say.
It reminds me of part of Field of Dreams:
"What if the voice calls while you're gone?"
"Take a message."
Wow - that's sweet. God apparently hasn't wanted much to do with me for quite some time. Not that I blame her ....
Last friday I got to assist T's class to picture day.
T is line leader, since he has a knack for disappearing, and Z and I got to walk at the end of the line, since we were there to corral.
The same little girl whose parents had told me on back to school night that they were going to be dealing with separation issues since their daughter was shy and still very clingy, was in the middle of the line, teasing the boys in front of her, singing at the top of her lungs and dancing feverishly with another little girl, while the rest of the girls rolled their eyes behind her, I'm assuming because this wasn't a one time occurence.
It makes me wonder how well we know our children really.
But is God talking back?
Do you think he can ask God for me if I will loose this extra weight ...I know it sounds trivial but coming from a kid it might get through....
Wonder if I am cute enough to get away with this...
How can ya get made at a kid talking to God! He got you there, didn't he! A talker, but a smart talker! What a perfect moment!

One of two things: either Jackson is really talking to God, or he has the best come back line I've heard from someone his age.
Yep, a new best friend.
Great line from Jackson - but I like your response even better! What a hoot!
Sounds like he has a direct line. You better cozy up to him!
That's some answer!
Secretia
That's great! I used to put my two oldest boys on a double jogger, give them each a sucker and head out for a walk/jog. I'd tell them it was quiet time because Mama was talkin' to God.
Sounds like you were sweet to the little guy. :-)
again I say...out of the mouths of babes...lol
Suhhh-weeet Jackson! You blew a perfect moment with the kid who had a direct pipeline to God? You should of grabbed his celestial cell phone and asked the HIM for an afterschool call back!
Love it.
You know he's going to keep on using that line on you now - right?
Since you've got a direct conduit to the big guy, do you mind if I send you some requests?!
OMG - he's like my favorite kid.
Ever.
Other than my own. I can't wait to hear what other insights he has - I bet he has a very unique view on the world!
ack. pretty stinkin cute... or evil.. can't decide.
handled that with aplomb, v m ;)
Can hear it now…
Oh, God— can't talk right now… JC says hi— OK, say hi back… etc. etc.
Makes you wonder what they were talking about in the first place???
Smart fella, wish I'd thought of that one. And be careful, I'll bet God isn't too keen on you interrupting His conversation.
I love your stories1
Keep em coming!
Wow. This kid has improv written all over him. :)
That sounds like an adorable little lad. I cannot blame you if you consider him your best friend.
Kids! Gotta love them!! :)
I can see right now, he's got your heart by the strings, baby!!!!
He's got mine too and I've never met him.
I do love those little boys who just can't behave even when they try so hard!
Oh how cute! What a sweet response.
I have my very own 'Jackson' but his name just happens to be 'Moses' I wonder who he'll chat with next?
Wow, he sounds like a character! One you won't forget. Stopping by from SITS :)
Cute comeback! I love Kindergartners. I hear from my current Kindergartner everything that Mrs R did or said. I love it. Here is the latest: "We went to computer class to learn the rules. One of the rules is that if you sneeze on the computer you're allowed to get up and get a wipe. You don't have to ask permission."
Awesome! no permission necessary.
Love your blog.
I think kids have a hotline to god. Maybe he could take a message for you? Snazzy new design BTW (sorry, have been out of the loop for some time) x
Aw.
That's awesome!
He probably has dreams like you, too.
Absolutely priceless!
nice blog!
