It was BOUND to happen sooner or later....

Yesterday at parent teacher conferences, I met with Frank’s parents.

Of course, his name is not REALLY Frank. It’s, um, Jack. Yeah. Jack. Jack SPRAT.

But guess what? At the end of the conference, I called him Frank.

I did.

I said Frank.

Sweet jesus, someone shoot me.

Well, at least you didn't call him Tightwad or Bitchy, right? ;-)

Did you tell them that it was just your pet name for him because he reminded you of your favorite cousin/brother/recording artist?

I'm sure they would totally buy it....

Hahahahahaha!!! Too funny! We've got "nicknames" for a few of the attorneys we deal with at work - yup, I've almost slipped a time or two myself.....

What Steven said..what are his parents like?

Like others have said, it wasn't Lucifer or Hellboy. I think Frank was an honest, but funny mistake. Made me smile.

Ahahahahahahaha! How did you explain that?

That is too, too funny! I hope the parent had a sense of humor!

TOO FUNNY!!! My mom never got my name right! I started thinking my name was marierandimichaelcrystal

Haha, too funny!! I keep telling the wife she's going to end up doing that with the mother of a friend of my son's. She continually calls her a name that is a combination of both her kid's name and her name. She says that should be easy to work her way out of if it happens... uh huh...

My business partner named her second child Frank, after her deceased father. I never liked the name, thought it was too old fashioned etc.

I told another mom friend of mine, who had a 4 year old, that I didn't like the name but she said she met one of her daughter's little friends and his name was Frank. And that he was so adorable, actually too small for such a big name.

I've loved it ever since.

Ooooh, it could have been sooo much worse! At least Frank is a real name, not derogatory or a slur or a dirty word! Oh yes, be grateful, very grateful! :)

If she reads your blog, she'll understand.

I get my own girls' names mixed up all the time. Pisses them off mightily.

Hopefully the parents don't read your blog! LOL

I think as long as you didn't introduce yourself as VodkaMom, you are fine.

to be honest, when I'm emailing (or sometimes even talking) to IRL people who read my blog, I'll use the blog codenames. Mostly because they get confused when I use actual names now haha. :)

funny you said his 'codename' to his parents!

Haha oops!!

It's okay, I sometimes call one of Tommy's annoying friends the codename I use on my blog. And then he's all, "That's NOT my name, Tommy's Mom." And I'm all, "Well, we're even, because my name is NOT Tommy's Mom, it's Amber, thank you."

I know the feeling...

I can't stand a cousin's boyfriend, AT ALL, and have gotten into the habit of calling him BUD (Butt Ugly Dude) when he's not around. At a family function, I nearly called him BUD when saying "Hi" to the cousin and him. Oops!

I hope you were able to finagle your way out of the situation. lol!

Oh no!! Did you recover from it?

Completely understandable. I wish my kids' Kindergarten teacher blogged. That would crack me up.

Coming from someone who mixes up her own offspring's names on a daily basis, I can relate. Sometimes I just point and say, "You! Come here."

Melinda said...

LOL!! Well at least they had no idea why you called him that. I wonder what Frank will say the day you yell out "Frank sit down."

Anne said...

So funny, glad they can appreciate the humor. ~Make me worry a touch... I have 'occasionally' altered a name to make it more fitting... would hate to 'slip' one of those out...

Yes, it's hard.
But YOU CAN DO IT!
If you are the type of person who enjoys children like "Frank" (or "Jack", whatever), then you should actually *enjoy* finding your special place!
It's an Adventure!
It's a New Day Ahead for you!

You CAN do this!!!
=-)

I've decided, in my infinite wisdom,l that very few people read your labels! What a shame!! That's where you really hang out! I'm glad the parents love your blog and of course you're not going to be able to say whether or not either of them is like Frank! Would not be a good thing to do.

Finding a place IS hard, especially with two kids still at home. You want them in the same area if you can, but that doesn't always work. Whoever said kids were easy to move had obviously never done that job! You will find a place, your kids will adjust and life will be better. Hang in there!!
