This morning before Kid Writing, we talked about leprechauns, rainbows, pots of gold, and all things Irish.
As Frank added more and more information to the legend of the leprechaun that I’m convinced he gleaned from watching the movie “Chuckie” every weekend, I steered the conversation back towards the rainbow.
I asked the children, "If you found a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow what would you do with it?"
Immediately hands flew in the air. After listening to several students shout out answers, Suzy finally piped in.
"I have been to the end of a rainbow and there's no pot!"
Several students disagreed, but she insisted.
“I have been on a airplane, and I SAW the end of the rainbow. There was definitely no pot.”
And so endeth the lesson.

Wonder what kind of pot she was looking for....
I've been to the bottom of Cuervo and there's no gold either
I've been to the bottom of Cuervo too, but I did find gold! Sadly though in the toilet bowl I got sick in. All I know, and I tell everyone this "tequila is NOT your friend"!
Take care, Sue
There's always gotta be a Suzy in the bunch, ruining everyone's good time. What's next, unicorns don't exist?
i've been to the pot and flew like an airplane...
Ahh, Suzy - taking the shine out of the magic.
Well, I've been through the desert on a horse. But it had a name. It's name was Pot. And it had a horn like a unicorn and would only drink Cuervo. . . .so there.
LOL
Oh, little Miss Suzy will be like Frank and Stanley this Christmas saying Santa is dead.
Today it's no pot at the end of the rainbow. Tomorrow it will be tooth fairies and Santa Claus. You better watch that Suzy. She's trouble in the making.
I am laughing at Brian's comment. . . because I was thinking. . . "what was Suzy smoking when she said that? We KNOW it wasn't Pot."
I wanted to type it, but didn't. I just changed my mind. Heaven help the pastor here.
And thanks for the reminder. I need to wear green tomorrow. Otherwise, I'll have at least 50 old men wanting to pinch me "everywhere" when I walk through the doors of the senior community.
She's right.
Still praying for your girl.
Suzy is absolutely correct. I have been to the end of the rainbow and there was no pot....gold or otherwise! But I've got to tell you it was one of the best experiences of my life!!

(Sorry, computer is insisting on cut and paste only!)
I swear I was stone cold sober at the time and I did NOT make this up!
That Suzy is one smart cookie!
Probably because most pot nowadays is hydroponically grown so it wouldn't be sitting there outside for every one to see. :) Did you add that to the lesson?
WHAT?!!?!!!! There's no pot? Well bugger me ...
I've been to the end of the pot, and I'm pretty sure I saw a rainbow there. But that was a long time ago. Things might have changed since then.
Poor Suzy. Learning that disappointing lesson so early in life.
The tangents that kindergarteners can go on are surprisingly similar to the ones that purportedly intelligent and mature adults go on - things that make you go hmmm...!
hooray, your writings on theater and writing much missed!
Bet she doesn't believe in Santa either
Brian... lol
