Thought for the day.

As I think about navigating these bumpy seas, I hold this thought close to my heart.

‎"It's not only children who grow. Parents do too. As much as we watch to see what our children do with their lives, they are watching us to see what we do with ours. I can't tell my children to reach for the sun. All I can do is reach for it, myself." ~Joyce Maynard

If you have a moment in the day, say a prayer for the Japanese, for those in harm's way, for your neighbor and for our children.

please.

And how often we forget -- despite our best intentions -- that we are leading by example. Parenthood: the final frontier!

Prayers all around for everybody!

So my teacher buddy told a student last week, "It will be alright in the end. If it's not alright, you aren't at the end yet."

Thank you for this today. I love that quote (today especially) because as I was about to give my children a grand lecture on greed, I realized the problem of my own selfish heart. I am learning from them. http://livewithflair.blogspot.com/2011/03/most-selfish-little-girl.html

VM,
Thank you for keeping the need to pray for Japan alive. We need not forget to pray for our neighbor, in a week, a month or even a year. They will need our help and our prayer for a while to come.

Regarding our children and our families here, I love that you have encouraged prayer from others to the children on our own soil. True, we may not have had a recent natural disaster in our home town that matches Japan. However, the emotional and physical Tsunami's and Earthquakes that shake the hearts of our children and drown the life out of a happy heart need to be held close and prayed for DAILY!

xoxo

Now that all 3 of my kids are in their 20s (yikes!!), I realize I LIKE them!! I didn't so much when they were teens, but I think that's the rule. And I'm starting to like who I am too.

I told my oldest that the other day. She looked at me in surprise. I said, "Oh, come one! You didn't like me either when you were a teen!" She laughed and agreed!
