Although, once they start doing that then you can't spell things around them anymore because they'll figure out what you're saying.
We just reached that point with the 6 year old I take care of. I spelled D-O-N-U-T the other day in a secret hush-hush conversation, and the 6 year old yelled from across the room, "I know you're talking about donuts!! So where are they?!"
GRRRRR.
Should have gone the fancy route and spelled it D-O-U-G-H-N-U-T. That would have shown him.
When my daughter was about 18 months old, I was asking her if she wanted more BSKDE. Hubs got all huffy and said not to talk ababy talk to her. I said not to be ridiculous, she couldn't say "Spaghetti" at 18 mos! I looked at her and the little shit said, "Spuh-geddy!"
I needed this today! Maybe going back to the classroom and teaching first grade again won't be such a bad thing after all. Thanks for the smile this morning.
Awwww! This post gave me chill bumps...and it has been a long time since I had chill bumps because Lurch is in the hospital AGAIN! I just want you to know that
I promised Anymommy that I'd leave a comment at the blogers I love to read to let them know that their words count! Someone is reading and your words mean something to me...and then you use WORDS from those little people learning how to use written words for your post!
Even the universe agrees! Your words (written and spoken!) count and make a difference. Thanks!
i absolutely love your blog! and though you probably don't do the whole "award" thing, i still have one waiting for ya! the "beautiful blogger" award. it's for our recent blog finds that we believe to be fantastic! =)

And everyone knows bskde wouldn't be bskde without met balls.
It really is the best when they start to write on their own, isn't it? The most creative spelling you have ever seen!
