Due to circumstances beyond our control...

(Things in my neck of the woods are becoming more and more difficult. I like to think that all people in this world are good hearted. I like to think that for the most part we think about others, and children, before we think of ourselves. Unfortunately I am discovering that this is not always the case. However, I do pray that wisdom and compassion find their way into someone's heart. In light of this, I am re-posting an oldie today. If someone I love more than life itself is having someone read this to him, then please know that I love you more than you know.)

The top seven reasons why you SHOULD have stayed at the Hilton instead of the CHEAPER La Quinta Hotel in Virginia Beach while attending an indoor field hockey tournament last weekend.

7. When you’re in the elevator and you and the other eight people realize it won't work. The doors close and NOTHING happens. AND, the maintenance man, who happens to be in there WITH YOU, runs out and tells you to stay put, and shuts to door with you all IN the elevator, that is not a good sign.

6. When said maintenance man THEN informs you that as a result of the FIRE in the hotel in January, he thought all of the elevators had been fixed. (gulp.)

5. When the nightclub next door advertises a “live band” on Friday and Saturday nights (until their 2:00 a.m. closing.) but the desk clerk FAILS to mention that.

4. When you discover at 1:00 a.m. that the Harley Davidson motorcycle club is holding their weekly meeting at said nightclub with terrible Led Zeppelin wanna-be band. (After further investigation it was determined that said night club was in reality A Cho Cho’s Pizza Den. So, all bands that are rejected by real nightclubs in Virginia Beach, you can play at Cho Cho’s Pizza Den. You can’t miss it – it’s right SMACK next door the La Qunita.)

3. When you discover they allow pets - the smaller and the yippier the better. And, if you’re REAL lucky, they’ll put them NEXT DOOR in the adjoining room, which is how you found out about them in the first place. (There’s no closing time for pet barking.)

2. When you discover that there is not a bathroom fan in the bathroom that is going to be used by SIX people – and might I add- the walls are paper-thin. PAPER THIN people.

(and the number ONE reason NOT to stay at the La Quinta...)

1. When the extra-large full-length mirror in the bathroom makes YOU look extra-large. (I am SURE a man designed these bathrooms.)

Next year I am staying at the Hilton.

I'm sorry. I can't stay in the Hilton. It makes me think all my money is going to Paris Hilton's skank fund and then I feel sick.

When it rains it pours sometimes. But there is always sunshine after rain.

Or thunder and lightning during. Either way everything will be okay.

Much love to you and I truly, seriously hope your friends and family appreciate you for all you do.

Lol. Sorry so much stress. But on the bright side, Hilton would probably not have as many humorous to come home with. "I slept well" nope, not funny. "the elevator worked" nope. :-)

Great love to you! Do you ever listen to Dennis Prager? He's a radio host who has a happiness hour each Friday at noon. I always get something from him about finding happiness even during difficult times. xo

i'm telling you, there's a handbook. they all follow it, even the good ones. they go from being the "he would nevers..." to the "do you know what that bastard dids...." in less than a month. hang in there. it gets better, i promise.

Oh, but the memories...! If everything was perfect, it would be enjoyed and forgotten. However, one never gets back those lost hours of sleep due to yappy dogs!

Hope they won!

Damn! I wish I would have known you were there, I would have came and hung out with you girl lol! Hubby and I stayed in Va Beach last year when his daughter got married and the hotel we stayed in was a nightmare, right down to the manager who dropped f bombs more than any sailor I've ever met.
