Ten, Five, Four? Who really counts these days??

The top four reasons why the teacher might be having a glass of wine tonight, in no particular order.

4. Someone who reads this blog left a not-so-nice comment on a post. While I’ve always said, “I’m a big girl” and have always left comments on my posts whether they were negative or not, I had to intervene. My daughters felt the need to jump on the bandwagon with an *ahem* supportive comment of their own. (Apparently they do read my blog.) While I was incredibly touched by their loyalty, the comments were closed. We reminded each other to keep our faces toward the sun, and hold each other close. The fireworks from Mordor might be strong but in the end, a good heart always prevails.

3. That miracle for my car that I was asking God to give to someone else? Well, THAT was the prayer He finally heard. (I just love Him, and His crazy sense of humor.)

2. The ants found their way back into the classroom. (Marching MORE than one by one.) Yes, we are indeed studying bugs in kindergarten, but not by the billions. (Egads.)

1. Frank decided to listen to the teacher (for once) and did NOT put ketchup up and down his arms and his head. He used honey, instead. (“But I DID listen to you! I didn’t put ketchup on me again!”)

Yeah. I’m disausted.

I think that you might want to try the Frank Option and rub some honey on yourself.
Who knows, he might have something there.
or the ants will like it and we will have to send the honey and the ants to that poster who is such an a**hole.

More than enough good reasons. And anyone who comes to a person's blog and makes a nasty comment just has no manners. It's like coming into someone's home and, let's say announcing you ate cabbage without using your words. I hope they get ants in their pants.

Dear sweet friend,
This journey you are on has a road wide enough for those who love you most.

And there are a lot of us who do!

Sounds like you need more than just a glass of wine! Ants are the worst. I keep getting them in my classroom, too.

Lili said...

Hugs Honey. Rude people are miserable people.

Thank you for being a wonderful example of positive humanity in action.

Are you referring to the anonymous person who made four million spelling mistakes? That was embarrassing. For them.

Betsy Brock said...

Oh how I love your sense of humor! Raising 3 teens with autism has taught me to laugh at everything, too. We must survive after all! :)

My dear, I'd say you've earned the right to delete not-so-nice comments. You've got enough on your plate without the jacka$$es. I'd side with your daughters. AND-- you are absolutely right--onward and upward!

Finally some good news and boo on the haters!!!

I went to comment on your last post but found the comments shut down. This explains why! Just wanted to say that I think your idea of not getting the miracle so someone who REALLY needs it gets it? Is lovely.

Also, I am a high school teacher and your blog makes me LAUGH. So thanks for that. :) Seniors graduate this week and are GONE - thank goodness. They sure don't grow up much between when you have them and I have them - I think I have the older version of Frank. He tried to give his phone number to a "hot sub" to get a date....

Oh Bother...first of all, every child should have to bring in one bottle of their teacher's listed favorite bottle of wine/spirits on the first day of school as a required school supply. If they forget, Teacher Appreciation Day would be a suitable time for a replacement.

Tune out the haters. They have nothing better to do.

Frank must have been paying attention to the old adage. Too bad it's for flies not ants...

Cheers.

I have discovered Choco-vino...chocolate wine. And while it sounds disgusting, believe me, it is heavenly. Especially the raspberry.

Hey, it's your blog and you can do what you want! Poop on those who delight in hurting others. They will be repaid for their efforts, eventually!

It's great to have the support of family. Sounds like you raised some keepers!

One of the things I loathe about the internet is cowards who hide behind anonymity, and the power it gives them - someone watches my Amazon page, and as soon as a good review of my novel goes up, clicks "No" to "Was this review helpful to you?" - someone else has taken to watching for my good reviews on blogs and posting scathing rebuttals. We're powerless, in a way. What empowers us is the love and support of our friends and you, Ms. VodkaMom, have plenty, and we're all here for you.

I know people make fun of this poem...but I think it speaks to what you are going through~

"Did you want to see me broken?
Bowed head and lowered eyes?
Shoulders falling down like teardrops.
Weakened by my soulful cries.

You may shoot me with your words,
You may cut me with your eyes,
You may kill me with your hatefulness,
But still, like air, I’ll rise."

Sorry to hear about ugly commenters but more importantly, glad to hear about your daughters standing up for their beautiful, smart mom. Thanks for all of your wonderful writing.

In desperation I put some simple syrup outside my door for the ants to feast on so they stay out of my kitchen.

Or you can convince honey-covered Frank that he should spend reading time outside :)

Congrats that the car repair is small. And congrats on the hateful comment--it means you've truly arrived. Actually, for the number of people that I'm sure visit your blog, having one mean comment is really great!

Well I absolutely lOVED your post yesterday, loved it....and now you're going to have to write to me and tell me all the juicy gossip behind the comments :)))

Wide road, baby....wide road. Plenty of room on it for you, your troubles, your friends, and the caravans of support you have in your life. Drink on, raise the glass of wine, and pour me one :)) xoxoxo

Am not an expert in commenting on someone's expression of thought...this is a blog, your blog! No one has the right to jump the gun there, I agree!
But seriously, your posts are worthy of having a good read always..still wondering who thought otherwise???
But, why have a reason to have fun?
You deserve to drink on, raise the toasts to a wonderful mom and teacher you are, and relish on the sweetness of life as it brings you all life long...Cheers!!

May your mean commentor have honey poured down their pants and be introduced to your ants.

I haven't been reading your blog for very long, but I really enjoy it. I don't know what someone could have found reason to leave a negative comment about one here, but for some people it doesn't take much. Usually something as deep seeded as "hi". But anyway I just wanted to let you know that the reason I enjoy your blog is because I can hear the love that you actually have for this class of children. I can feel that you really care about them as individuals. I thought teachers like that were extinct now, lol. (I really did think my Mom was the last of a dying breed.)

Anyway, I enjoy your honesty and humor. Keep your chin up. I think your doing great.

Sue said...

Life is never boring is it? I don't think I really even know the meaning of "boring"! Enjoy your week-end, and I know for a fact, even if you don't think your kids have your back, they DO! I know that from experience!!

Take care, Sue

Scope said...

But the ants probably loved the honey.

Or was I not paying attention and totally missed the point.

Kyddryn said...

Hugs, sugar...I know, I shouldn't say "sugar" with ants and all, but I live in the South, where everyone is Suagr, Honey, Sweetie, or Darlin', which is freakin' brilliant if (like me) you can't remember names worth a darn. SO yeah, hugs, sugar...

That's crazy madness. I'm sorry someone was mean. Mean people are stupid.

I hope you have a wonderful, relaxing weekend and are as close to summer vacation as we are.

Dawn said...

Was it the honey that attracted the ants??
Oh. That Frank!

The Girl Next Door said...

hate mean people but love that your kids have your back.

Love Honey. but maybe not on arms? Oh frank we love you...

There are plenty of ways iMessage could get better. For one thing, it would be convenient to be able to tell Messages to always (by default) send messages as a text rather than an iMessage if the signal is bad
