No wonder the Advil didn't work. (Which is precisely why I'm no doctor.)

Dear Sassy,

You didn't really need that annoying appendix, anyway.

Love,

Your incredible mother who will never, ever call you overly dramatic again.

(Well, not for at least a week.)

Oh no. I've had an appendectomy. It hurts. Hoping for an easy surgery and good drugs. Hang in there, mom!

Given the number of people who get their appendix taken out, you have to wonder if any of us really NEEDS one! Hope she's feeling better soon.

Don't feel bad. I yelled at my (then four year old )son for playing it up by moaning and it ended up that he had pneumonia and a sign on pneumonia in small children is moaning! I felt horrible for years. Hope sassy feels better soon.

Mother of the Year award-- out the window!
I lost it with the broken arm that we missed for 2 days, (Quit your whining!), the broken ear drum (never even said the ear hurt--just the throat), and the jaw that almost had to be broken for misaligned teeth (this child had to have suffered horrible headaches--yep, thought she just complained a lot). Gads, Motherhood is hard!

Thanks everyone- for thoughts and emails! She is out of surgery, recovering and I think I'm bringing her home this afternoon. Back to the hospital....

She had the nurses laughing as they were wheeling her back. (That's my girl....)

Ouch !
We had a young lady from England visiting us one year and she woke with a stomach ache. The next few days are a blur, doctor, hospital, surgery, convalescence, putting her on the plane to go back home .. with a small scar and lots of good stories to tell for years to come !

Good luck to your young lady :)

Well you know the Dr's want people to wait to see if things progress so most people don't know if pain is a problem until it get really bad. Or people would be off to the ER every time they had a gas pain or hang nail. The point being if it's serious it will get worse and if it's not it will get better so waiting to see is your best option.

Just did the same thing, right down to the Advil, a week ago only my 18 year old had kidney stones. I love being a mom!!!

Feel better Sassy!

Oh my! I usually say my kids are more drama than trauma and I HATE when they prove me wrong (like the walking pneumonia last fall. . .) Hope everyone is feeling better soon!

My mom did the same to me...she actually gave me some pepto bismo and went bowling! ha. I felt better when the doctor asked why she didn't bring me in earlier. tee hee.
We both survived. But I do use it against her occasionaly.

Don't feel too bad. I actually yelled at my daughter when she had a compound fracture because she was screaming so loud I couldn't hear the doctor on the other end of the line telling me I was an asshole for letting her on the monkey bars at the age of three.
