Sometimes when Karma comes to visit, she gives you a great big kiss.

I’m moving yet again.

This, if you remember, isn’t breaking news.  The Gods of all that are Holy found me a place to live, and it seemed as if the stars were aligning in my favor.

Until, that is, I discovered recently that I had to vacate my place on July 31, and the family wasn’t officially leaving for Italy until August 26.  They are a very lovely family and invited me to stay in the home with them until their departure, but there is such as a thing as a crowd, and I wasn’t comfortable being a part of one for so many weeks.

Bitchy, who must have inherited a bit of my resourcefulness, managed to find a place to stay.  I started panicking, and about a week ago I made numerous calls to try to find a comfortable place for myself AND those two cats that I never really wanted in the first place.  In fact, according to the girls, one belongs to Bitchy and one belongs to Sassy.  How convenient that they don’t have to actually house them.

I found it a bit difficult to find an affordable long term rental situation that welcomed cats, and was thinking I might have to either live in my CAR, rob a bank, or crash in the library parking lot.   None of those options was particularly appealing to the cats.

I opened my email yesterday and saw a message from my good friend from high school.  You remember Sharon from last summer, right?   Well, we’ve stayed in touch and have been hoping for another “reunion” this summer.

Dear Vodka,

I know my house isn’t in your backyard, but I forgot to tell you that I promised my husband I would spend the entire month of August in Florida with him.  I’m not thrilled about it, but I DO love him and am doing it for him.  If you don’t mind pulling some weeds and getting our mail each day, you are welcome to bring your cats, your laptop and whatever else you want and come here to the eastern shore of Maryland and stay in our home.

Love,   Sharon

What?  WHAT??????  Oh my Lord in Heaven, sometimes I think I must have done SOMETHING right to have Karma give me a leg up as often as she has.

And so, as I so often remind my children, sometimes when you throw good out into the world, the world throws the good right back at you.

(And Sharon, you are indeed an angel…)

As I am right now considering the merits of car living (no cats to consider), I am so happy to hear you've found a place. And it sounds quite nice, too!

...and, who knows, Mr. Right might be spending the summer in eastern Maryland! Not only is it a wonderful solution to your problem, but it's lovely to be able to visit a new place and experience a change of pace. Have a great summer!

Delurking to say that's wonderful news. It's about time the universe sent some good karma to you hope it keeps coming, you truly deserve the best that life has to offer. Just wanted to say I love reading your blog, your positive energy and loving observations from your classroom always makes me smile. Hope you have an amazing summer.

Two corrections: You will be on the western shore of Maryland, not quite as nice as the eastern shore, but don't tell anyone that. This is an arrangement that benefits BOTH parties. Love to you.

I'm so happy you found a place! It'll help you transition to the new place and it'll be nice and comfy, filled with the love from your friend. That's a beautiful thing.

You deserve many good things. Always.

Sounds like the perfect place to recharge and gather some inspiration for writing!

Oh--and don't forget to change your Amazon wish list "mail to" address once you move (it doesn't always sync with changing your account address--my mom found that out the hard way)

If the place comes with a pool boy, be sure to take advantage of the situation.
