Sophie came running into the classroom today with a HUGE smile on her face.
"Guess what?" she shouted, out of breath from running the whole way down the hall.
"Good morning, Sophia!" I said, smiling. "And I don't know, what?"
"I have the BEST TELLING SHARING EVER!" She said, hopping up and down.
"Wow! Did you win the lottery?" I asked.
"No!" she laughed, shaking her head.
"Are you moving into a fairy princess castle?" I asked with enthusiasm. clapping my hands together.
"NO!"
"Are you getting a PONY?" I asked.
"No! No, no, no. I am getting my brother's IPOD!"
I looked at her. "Uh-oh."
"Yep! You know what that means! My brother was SO BAD!" She said with a huge smile.
"Yikes." I said, remembering her story during morning meeting not long ago.
"Yep, he was SO, SO BAD and now I get his iPod! Isn't that the greatest news ever?" She ran gleefully over to her cubby as I turned to my intern.
"Well, that might be the greatest news for Sophie, but I'm guessing there's more than one person who will not agree, and I think probably his mother might be at top of the list."
We shook our heads and watched her spread the good news. (Who knew a gift that doesn't require wrapping could cause such joy???)
