Wednesday Shout Outs!

I've got some friends who are celebrating some exciting moments today.

First, go visit John and Steve over here, and you can enter a contest celebrating some great news. New parents can enter to win oodles of cool, cool stuff. Oh, and if you mention my name, you'll get some additional entries.

Also, my friend Elise has a lovely post about The President's speech to kids. Frankly, I loved it- and I'm happy that someone else did as well.

My friend Barrie has a new YA book out - go check out the cover!!

And this is the time I beg shamelessly for some votes over at the blogger's choice awards.
I don't like to be competitive, but I wasn't a collegiate gymnast for nothin' people. I know most of you voted, and it takes a bit of time to register (four or five minutes) but I would appreciate it. I wish I had some cool prizes to offer (like the other blogs who are now in the lead) but all I've got left from all the swag I managed to snag from BlogHer are some reuseable grocery bags (about 10 of them), some key chains, flash drives, fake nails and eyelashes and a couple DVD's about photography.

So, if you visit these friends, manage a vote or two for me and want ANY of these items, feel free to let me know. I'll zip you out a package. or two.

Now, I am going to go gloat about the fact that Sassy scored the WINNING GOAL in her varsity field hockey game in OVERTIME last night. I am still walking on cloud nine as a proud mama- and will never forget the look of joy on her face as she leapt a HUNDRED FEET IN THE AIR after the goal.

I have a feeling last night will be one of the top ten moments in my life. whew.

Congrats to Joan and Steve.

There is nothing like that look. I was lucky enough to have someone capture my daughter's face on film when they won a band competition in Giants Stadium. You about want to burst with joy! Congrats to you both.

Are people really offering prizes for votes?? Crap. I haven't stooped that low, but I'm slipping fast. And I DO NOT like it. AT ALL.

... And not to make this all about me-- way to go, Sassy!

I saw the President's speech to schoolkids on another blog and commented there. I thought it was amazing, and the idiot woman, what was her name? the one who was objecting? The personification of the term "ugly American." Ugh....

His speech was wonderful and inspiring, even to some non-American, US-politics-loathing, anti-bullshit, Aussie girl livin' in a village in India. So there!!! :)))

Alright, Sassy!

I voted for you long ago, my dear and I'd vote again if I could. You're doing pretty good (I think I have 5 votes - LMAO!) and you could always threaten to whip the ones who don't vote. Whip it!

Thank you for the link. You are such a sweetheart. And I hope you got Sassy's 100-foot leap on video for us! Off to vote!

Four or five minutes is a lot of time for someone like me. People to see, important things to do, urinals to splash, beer to drink, and when you move in the circles I do (upper echelons of society) it is hard to find the time...

I have already voted and congratulated Steve and John. :) If you wanted to send some bags or flash drives my way...

Your baby girl scored the winning goal...mine played her first high school volleyball game last night. Then she melted down because it was 9:30 and she still had 3 hours of honors homework. How the heck are they supposed to do this all? *sigh*

Dude, you need glasses. The person who scored the goal was ME.

(What's Field Hockey? Just in case you call me on this. Is it like shopping?)

You're all voted for, honey-pie - and I won't even ask for your swag.

Congrats to Sassy for scoring the winning goal! Isn't that one of the best feelings in the world for a parent? I think we enjoy those moments more than they do.

Did Sassy pull her team shirt over her head just like what's her name did on that soccer team?

You are amazing! Thanks you for the shout out!

Snaps to Sassy! What a moment!

First - yeah Sassy!

Second - I LOVE John & Steve (and not just because J thought I looked hot doing Chris' "double dutch snap" dance). I'm thrilled for them.

Third - I already voted for you, so I'll have to create an alias and vote again. Are people really giving away prizes for votes? I did some shameless begging for Blogitzer votes - but no prizes are involved. That's where I went wrong I guess. So Dooce will win and have no idea that she was even nominated. Ah well!
