3/23/11

Sure, I like to be generous, but I like to CHOOSE who gets my money.

Dear Mustafa Whateveryournameis:

I want to thank you for turning my world upside down today.

While generally I only allow Frank to do that, you did it when I WASN’T even looking! In fact, you did it from another state altogether. (That’s talent.)

Thank goodness I went online to check my bank account during lunch today while trying to figure out how in the world I was going to pay $650 for Sassy’s car repairs. I thought perhaps I MIGHT be able to juggle some money here or there, and maybe tap in to that whopping $200 I had managed to save in the last three months.

However, your illegal use of my personal information you obtained from SOMEWHERE here in the cyber world sure put a halt to those efforts. In fact, you not only charged an amount that took what was left in my checking, you also took all of my savings and threw me so far in the negative that I need sunglasses just to open my eyes.

After performing CPR on myself, I managed to call my credit union AND the company from Las Vegas at the SAME TIME, and we performed an intricate three-way that ended with a solution that I had no choice but to accept.

Let’s re-cap, shall we? I’m in the negative about 350 dollars, and apparently all the overdraft charges that will surely occur in the next 3-5 days that it takes for the money to be returned will probably be returned to me. In the meantime I’m gonna try real hard not to need gas, food or any other essentials for the next 3-5 days.

They say it’s the darkest before the dawn, right? In that case, I’m betting all I got that tomorrow will be my dawn.

Finally.

You had a money-ge et trois.

I hope that bright light at the end of the tunnel isn't the headlight of an oncoming train. I've been having one of those bad-to-worse years, two years in a row now. I think that's why I haven't been as funny as frequently as I used to be. Working to regain my mojo...

I'm so sorry to read about what happened to you. My husband and I are such sticklers about every little penny on our account that we flag it right away but I know things slip through. It's really not fair is it?

Omg!!! You really did have a bad day. Apparently, you have managed to piss off someone somewhere. How else to explain all the shit that's been raining down on you.

Not to worry...I've got your back!

Jill said...

oh no oh no OH NOOOOOO!!!

And here I thought it was just Frank who was driving you a wee bit crazy.

It's 5 o'clock on the East Coast. I'd say today you deserve a cocktail early!

And here's hoping it's all cleared soon!!

Ugh that's a bad day I am sorry that you had to go through this I hope everything is returned to you in a speedy manner. I walked in after work on Monday and hubby had lost his job just awesome! So if you find that light at the end of the tunnel why don't you point it towards me after you are done okay=)

I'm trying to remember that there are SO many others hurting this day. Preparing our package for Japan at the end of the day reminded me about how trivial my worries are.

However, just ONE tiny break would be great.

kelly said...

That SUCKS! And yes, Japan is a tragedy, but this is your current reality - feel free to be a bit bummed and stressed! Praying you get DOUBLE what you lost back! :)

I've said it before and I'll say it again - there is a special place in hell for people like that.

I'm so sorry! Someone from my own work used my ss and racked up my credit card. I was lucky. The company didn't make me pay.

You are due for a good thing to happen. It's probably right around the corner!

So sorry!

Do you think this is the same Mr. Mustafa that stole from me in December? See my post "Dear Mr. Banker" to make you feel just a tiny bit better, Mr. Mustafa went all crazy and romantic with our money!!! What a jerk!

The good new is, that the bank put our money back quickly and did not charge us any fees. I pray the same for you!

Well, what is it with banking withdrawals today? Could it be the "Super Moon" is just now kicking in for lunatics?

Perhaps!

We had an "unplanned" withdrawal today that will not be correct for at least 5 - 7 days.

Our Mortgage holder decided we might enjoy getting ahead on our house. . . INSTEAD OF BEING ON TIME. . . and took our house payment out TWICE!!!! Today!!!!

Geez Louise! I about had an unholy eruption at the drive thru of the bank when the lady looked at me and told me my balance was $1,000 less than what I thought I should be!

Then, I remembered and thought:
"hhmmmm....I could be washed up on a beach somewhere or wedged between my upside down home and a car, due to a tsunami. Or, I could be the one working at the nuclear plant who signed on "til death".

Those thought balanced me. . . but it didn't put the money back. I am thankful. . . and broke!

And, it won't be this way always. I'm thinking if they hadn't done that to my account, I could have AT THE VERY LEAST, spotted you some cash until you are back on your feet.

Wonder if Mr. Mustafa Wahteveryournameis, works at my Mortgage company. . . . just a thought. . . Conspiracy thought, but a thought.

this is the one time a credit union is not so good. They have to wait until it comes. A bank, I think, can do otherwise.

Or so the credit union told me. hmmmm.

I am so sorry about what happened to you. I know that money problems are some of the most frustrating and head wrecking ones that you can have. I hope that you can get things sorted out soon and that things will look up for you!

That just...sucks! : (

I hope it's only 3 (and not 5) days.

I had my CC # stolen when I ordered a cell phone online...from the company's url! Never got the phone so I investigated and, luckily, nipped the ripoff before major damage was done.

Well you certainly know what I feel about life right this moment, don't you?

Oh, sugar - I'm so sorry...

I wish I could do something to help you...but all I can offer is free room and bpard at Casa de Crazy, and I'm afriad that would make one HELL of a commute!

Hugs to ya...life can suck sweaty donkey anatomy sometimes...but I've found that often the worst bits precede some of the best...so here's hoping you can endure the worst and get to the best in a hurry.

That sucks! I sure do hope that you make it through this week okay!

That sucks! That happened to us twice and it just bites. There is no nice way to say it. It's the biggest hassle to get sorted out.

I hope your bank refunds all of your money and quickly. We were lucky. We were with BofA and their policy is to refund the customers money and then do the investigation. But we still had to take time off work, not to mention the stress it causes.

justmakingourway said...

F*ck, that is just not RIGHT! Sorry, VM, hope your bank is going to be helpful.

Sending good thoughts and prayers your way. I had this happen to me many many years ago, before all the new more helpful regulations. I had overdraft protection on my account (you know where they take money out of your savings and dump into your checking). Needless to say in 24 hours I was wiped out.

I didn't get all of it back and it caused major big headaches and financial woes. Took me a long time to recover. I'm extra careful now. I use cards not directly linked to my bank account, virtual cards (netspend) and Paypal.

Hugs.

I just wanted to drop in to say, "hi" and let you know how much I enjoy your blog. I'm Monique Sopic's daughter and find your posts to be a lot of fun. But identity theft? Not so much fun. Hope you get it sorted out soon!

This happened to me too in the last week. Our bank caught it before it got too bad. My first thought was that it was from online purchases, but it turns out someone hacked a local business and stole info of all their customers. Asshole.

WHAT?!?! Oh my goodness! That STINKS!

I say sick Frank on him.

Phillipia said...

Sorry for your troubles VM:( I hope it gets straightened out soon. But I am with Kelly; this is your reality now so do not feel bad for feeling bad...

That's just HORRIBLE! I hope that all the overdraft fees are waved, as they should be.
Hope things get better.
