9/7/11

Run, run as fast as you can; we can't stop looking for the gingerbread man.

We were working on a gingerbread man activity at my center this morning, excitedly chatting about where the children thought our own gingerbread man might be hiding.

He shocked us all yesterday when we discovered he had run away in the middle of being baked. The children can hardly contain their excitement. (As if the first week in kindergarten isn’t HECTIC enough-someone had the bright idea to shake up the soda bottle.)

As we worked on a picture about where we thought he might be hiding, Francis looked at me in pain and whined, “When is this going to be OVER?” She turned to Sam, “I am so sick of this school.”

I looked at her and smiled, “Don’t worry, Francis. Only one hundred and seventy-five more days to go!”

(It was 9:25 in the morning. Only the teacher is allowed to be tired at 9:25 in the morning.)

is it really your birthday or is this the sarcastic "happy bday to me cause this isn't my day" thing? If it really is then Happy Happy!

oh and I found this article through the grapevine. I know you teachers do so much and some parents think their kids are angels so it makes your job even harder.

sorry, I'm on my phone and don't know how to cut and paste lol

Maybe she and Frank can get married when they grow up - just quit teaching before their kids get to you!

Happy Birthday! Hope you had time for a little nip and not just the little nippers in your class.

Belated Happy Birthday! Looking forward to a new year's worth of stories. I think it's because of your blog that I've been dreaming of going back to teaching! Former Pres. George W. was in my dream last night at the school. Go figure! Must be meshing with 9/11 stuff...

Happy Birthday! Hope you had a great day!

Francis sounds like my youngest boy, always sooooooooo sick of school. I can't listen to it anymore, I'm all like just deal with it dude!

PS. Who won the ipad? Did I miss the winner announcement?

-->So far, my child isn't "Frank" in his pre-K class but I do wonder what interesting things he may say during the day.
He got in trouble yesterday for talking when it was quiet time in the after-school program. I told him he needed to pay attention.
Later, I told my husband, I talk all the time and used to get in trouble for the same thing. Sometimes you just have important things to say At That Moment. ;-)

Some things never change.

Of course you know there's nothng new under the sun. In 1950 my brother told my mom he was sick of school. "Well, just stand it for one more day." "OK." But kids were so naive then. He was only sick of school, not "so sick of this school."

HI VodkaMom,
I am a kindergarten teacher from Alberta and a friend introduced me to your blog. I loved the post about your sister and her new hearing aids- totally touching.
You write a great blog and I know I am coming back to visit you again.
In my time away from school, I enjoy quilting. You can find that blog here: http//quiltmomsjourney.blogspot.com/

Anna

My kids are mortally offended at having to go back to school. (It's day 3 for us). Meanwhile I've bought some clogs to do some Irish dancing. Sweet Jesus, they've gone back to school!

Too funny! After the first day of school my 8th grade daughter and her friends were all posting on FB how many days until school was over.
I want to be in your class and draw pictures.
