I was not looking my best as a few visitors made their way
to my hospital room on Tuesday afternoon.
I hadn’t remembered that the doctor instructed me to ASK for painkillers
after surgery, and I was simply waiting for the nurses to keep me comfortable.
Not a good move.
When things were finally right with the world (and the
patient was medicated properly) a slow stream of friends appeared to confirm
that I was still among the living.
My small room was filled with fellow teachers, friends, my
sister and an incredibly tall and handsome Mr. Darcy. (wink, wink.) I smiled as I watched the various animated conversations,
and felt incredibly loved. It was then I heard
a faint knock at the door, and turned to see who were going to have to try to
cram into the room.
My eyes widened in shock as I spotted a short, handsome boy holding his mother’s hand.
In a flash he ran to my bed to wrap me in a hug.
It was Frank.
My adorable, smiling, gravelly voiced Frank.
It was the last thing I expected, but the very best medicine I could have gotten; the best medicine,
indeed.

You big jerk.
I'm praying for your speedy recovery. And keep asking for those meds!!!
keep healing sistah...
frank....dang him for being so cool...smiles...
I'm glad everything worked out OK for you ... now take it easy and enjoy the company. I have a Frank in my world and he can be the sunshine on a cloudy day... and then again he can be trying at times... those Franks -- you gotta love them. Take care ...
This made me cry--just shows what an awesome teacher you are and how much you touched Frank's life!
Hope you are taking it easy and enjoying all the TLC!
Sooo sweet! Keep healing!
So good to hear an update from you. Keep getting well, you hear?
Oh yeah, tears in my eyes! Glad you're on the road to recovery!
Yay for Frank!
I work in rehab, and the mantra is always "stay ahead of the pain". Take your pain meds whenever you're allowed to take them, even if you don't think you will need them. It will actually help you get up and moving more, which will help you recover faster. Take the drugs. Good luck!
Thanks for the update. I'm sure each day will get better and better from here on out!
xoxo
Sending healing thoughts your way. Glad Frank was there to cheer you up!
Oh Frank! What a sweet boy to come visit you!
Been thinking of you - hope you are up and about soon!
That was the medicine the doctor REALLY ordered.
Isn't it great when that one person you expect the least, walks in and makes your day? : )
so good to hear from you.
YEA FRANK

Seriously wiping my eyes...lol
One of the very best things about being an educator is the bonds we build with our students. Wishing you a speedy recovery
Completely awesome that Frank would have his mother take him to see you!!
Tears!
Wishing you a speedy and uncomplicated recovery.
Get well soon! I hope the recovery and therapy goes well..you will practically be a new woman! Ask for those drugs way before you need them..in fact when they give you them ask to be put on the list for more ASAP:)
Wiping the happy tears from my eyes -how sweet! Take good care & thank you for letting us know that you are on the mend.
That just made me "inside happy" for you. Frank, the kid who kept us laughing for a whole year. Wow, glad to know he is still full of surprises.

Stopping by from Joanna's blog to wish you well. Speedy recovery!
Through the cracks the light comes in. In your case....literally.
Praying for a speedy recovery with no pain, sweet Frank, prayers and good vibes sent your way, love your blog, heal and be healthy, loved, peaceful and happy.
I have a Frank of my own. Most of my day is spent trying, and occasionally succeeding, to stay one step ahead of him. The rest of the day is spent trying not to crack up at his antics. I don't know what the teachers of the world would do without our Franks.
That is for sure the best medicine you could have gotten!
Get well soon!!
D,
Always remember there's a time and a place for living better through pharmaceuticals!! Besides...they frown on martinis through IV tubes.
Mend well woman!! You're on my list to "the big guy" for healing and painlessness. Keep us posted.
And Frank. (sigh) WAY.TO.GO.FRANK! (And his mom). Way to go INDEED!!
JJ sent me over here to wish you well... so ... GET WELL SOON Chick. I hope you are not in too much pain.
Awwwww!!!!! So glad Frank made it to see you.
But, tell the truth...did you really get a new hip, or did you find enough $ in the online tip jar to buy the boob job? (yes, I read the sidebars)
NO WAY! FRANK???? That is sheer awesomeness!
