I'm half Polish, myself.

Overheard in kindergarten today as the teacher TRIED to lead a discussion about heritage. (She fell off her chair and onto the floor laughing...)

I’m half Ireland.

I’m half Spanish.

I’m half Picksburgh.

I think I’m half Florida. That’s where my grandparents live.

Yep. they're brilliant.

**It's a post from the "lost" files. I can't bear to part with them. I'm still working on one more Blogher post - but the family beckons....

I'm half crocked, and it's only 11:52 am. It's 5:00 somewhere, though.

When Laura was younger, she once said that her grandfather lived in a condom (condo) in Nipples (Naples). He also had an "Italian accident" (accent).

Kids. :)

Kindergarten... the greatest stage of childhood... really curious about everything, but not yet pains in the ass!

We used to say we were half Polish and half Dutch, so we were either Dolish or Putch!

Magic number at 12!!!! Wow!

My daughter must be half-polished, too. She went to a polka festival last weekend!

I met some people at BlogHer who were probably half pickled by the end of the conference, nationality aside.
I'm a European mutt myself. Russian, German, Polish. And then people immediately assume I'm Spanish. Good times, good times.
NO HABLO ESPANOL!
Miss you!

I liked that about kindergartners, but they are so damp! Dampness oozes out of every orifice of kinders!

Ya, it's lame, but I'm too damned hot to be creative.

I always tell people I'm half Austrian, half Heinz 57 sauce. It's my Dad's side of the family which has a combination of many different things including 1/8th Polish (which makes me 1/16th Polish)

Sara said...

It's the combination of half a Picksburg and half a Florida that really worries me.

sad to say by the time they make it to college their ability to know what ethnicity is doesn't get much better.

Certainly not adorable like those little guys you quote all the time!

When discussing religions once in his classroom one of my husband's 4th graders asked about "rednecks" and if they are one of the major religions. Bwa hahahahaha!
