We were having a class discussion about how we are the same, and how we are different. We talked about boys and girls and how they are different. John made the comment, "Yeah, because you can't be a girl and a boy....at least I don't think so."
Steve replied: "Yes, you can! Just like me! I'm a boy and a girl. I have a voice like a boy, but I scream like a girl!"
...and boy is he right.

I throw like a girl; does that count?

Oh how he'll regret that one day, but Oh how it made me laugh:D
What does he scream about - ice cream trucks, spiders, vampires, ghosts, his teacher first thing in the morning????
I'm impressed by that kid!!
My oldest son can scream like a girl. You would never know. When it happens you really do think there is a girl in the house.
Gotta laugh. Gender confusion at such a young age? Priceless.
Actually, yes, it is possible to be both a boy and a girl at the same time. Feel free to tell the kids and enjoy the nightmares.
too smart, he ;) lol
You're one brave teach, VM! I woulda NEVER had a discussion in my classroom about those differences. Leads to too many questions I wasn't prepared to answer, and didn't want the parent phone calls. :)
I love those conversions with five year olds always are humorous! was not expecting scream like a girl though!
The logic of children is adorable . . .
I hope he never loses that level of self-awareness and self-acceptance! We should all be so confident!

I really thought he would say something like, "my daddy is a transexual." I had a student that brought a picture of her sister for show and tell. She then told the class that her sister is a girl, but wants to be a boy, so she dresses like one. Explain that to the parents. Today, in show and tell...we discussed gender identity crisis. ha ha.
I love self acceptance at such an early age....
Bwahahahahahaha. He'll deny this when he's older. Bwahahahahahaha.
Have a terrific day and 4th of July weekend. It's off to the boat for us. :)
Certainly a "dangerous" topic to start...funny answer.

All males scream like girls. How insightful of this young boy to realize that. *grin*
LOL, hilarious, the boy is honest that is a good trait :-))
Too funny! The world through a childs eyes with fear of embarassment. What a wonderful way to live.

I wonder how long til he realizes that screaming like a girl is NOT a good thing.
Boy can I identify! I have two just-turning 3-year-olds here and they LOVE to stand in my bathroom and scream at the top of their lungs. It's all about the acoustics, I guess. And my high heels. Oh yeah.
I am back again..I have a question WHY does the boy scream?
I totally love your job! Hearing the things those little guys say is so funny. . . and it keeps the world in perspective from the eyes of a child!
I wonder if he plays baseball like a girl too.
Wait...that said boy was in MY class this year!
Kinda freaking out too btw. I 'was' a third grade teacher and it looks like I am now a first grade teachers.
Nose-picking, tooth-loosing, little itty-bitties. I'm a little nervous.
phew... I was hoping he couldn't say hermaphrodite. What a relief!
Hmm, I have one of those :)
Your class gets into the best discussions!
Yeah, I'm thinking you dodged a HUGE bullet there.
Good god, I thought he was going to say he was a hermaphrodite too, or at least allude to it if he didn't know the word. Would that have opened up a can of worms or WHAT?!
Glad to hear he only screams like a girl - that can always be fixed. Maybe.
