Have you ever heard of DonorsChoose.org? It's an amazing resource for teachers, but an even amazing way for someone to donate to a particular school, teacher or project that is close to their heart.
I first found out about this program last year, when a teacher NEW to our building introduced it to our staff. It's a program that enables donors to CHOOSE a project that they wish to donate to- and it helps teachers across the country.
I'm here to tell you it works. This new teacher was given new bookshelves for his classroom, and I saw them delivered with my OWN EYES!!

I am telling about his NOW, because those of us who were lucky enough to attend BlogHer received $25.00 GIFT CARDS to this program. They expire TOMORROW!!!
You can give this FREE MONEY to a lucky teacher/classroom ANYWHERE in the country!

If, perhaps, you might want to donate to THIS teacher's project, zip me a little email (vodkamom@gmail.com) and I will give you my class's project number.

However, there are TONS AND TONS of wonderful projects worth donating to.

Do it.

I need to go check this out... as usual we are always in 'need' of all sorts of items... a 'free' is wonderful!!!!
OMG!! BlogHer gave Donors Choose cards away!!? That's awesome! I've been using Donors Choose for years, and have received some awesome things for my classroom. My favorite is my gorgeous carpet.
I'm actually working on a few grants right now. That's one of the things on my list to get done while I'm on break. There's currently a matching-grant thing going on for IL teachers who work in low-income neighborhoods. It's simply a matter of submitting my grant, I'm fairly certain I will be getting it. This organization is awesome!
Crap, I need to look through everything one more time. I don't remember seeing that card!
Good stuff!

Wow! That's really cool. Now, if I can just get somebody to donate a particle accelerator ($2 billion) and a terawatt pulsed laser system ($300 million) for my physics lab, we'll be all set....
I gotta check that out. sometime. I feel I have been a little neglectful of my job of late.
Damn. I didn't get one of those gift cards. I'd have used it for sure.
I just posted about donorschoose last week. I've had several projects funded. It's an AMAZING resource. :-)
That's an awesome program!

Aw, Vodka Mom, thanks for the HUGE shout out!! I've watched that video 10 times, and it still makes me pee my pants! Now, go shove a gingerbread man up your ass! ;-)
What a great program!
They wouldn't let me in BlogHer, something to do with the 'Her' bit.
I'm particularly glad you saw the delivery with your own eyes. Had you seen it with my eyes I would think I was going mad, totally mad.
This may be one of the few freebies I didn't receive. Otherwise I would send it your way.
Hmmm....how about I mail you some spare Indian kids for your class? No? ok...

Shot you an email, m'dear - I hope it doesn't injure you.
