Bug Central

What do little girls do when they are banned from rescuing worms and snails from the schoolyard wetlands and are forced to play inside because of the rain?

They collect ants.

From inside the classroom.

And feed them.

And present them to the teacher as their new class pets.

Man, I am gonna MISS this class. (sniff, sniff)

Ick. The ants have been finding their way into our house lately, and I can't figure out where they're coming from. It's driving me CRAZY!

I love unconventional little girls, though! They'll be the cool chicks in high school... or the softball team. :-)

I feel all itchy now.

Reminds me of the Ant Farm some idiot gave me when I was a kid. What kind of a gift is that?

Did they name them?

Sure beats "Look Mommy, the ants live in our car"

Nothing is cuter than 5 year olds.

Hmmm, watching ants... sort of like watching paint dry. Unless you are 5 of course.

At least they weren't roaches, which is something that would happen at my school. :(

So who gets to take the class pets home for the summer?

At least with ants, you can't tell when one is gone and you have to stop everything and have a funeral.

HAHA! Crazy! Alot better than we were though, found this beetle climb up out of the drain once and all the girls started squealing, as the guys tried to act all macho and tough and see who could hold it in their hands longer...

Meanwhile, the kids in my Pre-K class are freaking out every time they see an ant. What a difference a year makes!

Ugh, haha, don't get me wrong, I love spiders and other insects don't really bother me, but I can't stand ants haha!

Sounds like you might have a quiet weekend. Nice!

I think it's really nice that you have kids (especially girls) that like to play with bugs.

I hate them, but I wish them no ill will.

You know, unless they're like, on me.

How sweet! Gives a whole new meaning to the expression - 'teacher's pet'.

when my daughter was small she used to call ants "puppies" and she would leave little treats for them.

I would have done exactly the same thing as a kid. I had buckets full of trapped bugs and snakes, etc, that I was keeping as pets under our deck where my mom wouldn't find them. ;-)
