'cause he's a travelin' man...

Our friend Frank has been making friends of all the kindergarten teachers this year. He barrels in with his gravelly voice and bear hugs and we have all fallen in love. Well, I might love him a TAD bit more, but that’s a given.

The other teachers are QUITE content wave to him and smile at me knowingly as he makes my way into my room, and I smile as well - knowing in my heart that he is probably about to make my day.

Frank is particularly enamored with the new young kindergarten teacher (Chloe Smithjones, you remember her...) who works right next door to me. Our rooms are connected, and we often zip in and out of each other’s rooms- sharing ideas, math manipulatives, stories and smiles. It makes for a great work environment.

Frank, I have recently discovered, is also zipping in and out of her room; at various times during the day and without permission. Now, it’s not that I run an incredibly tight ship or anything, but I DO think I’m supposed to know where the children in my classroom are at all times. He’s decided I’m not.

Ms. Perky (We recently changed her name...) told me that usually he’s just sticking his head in and shouting across the room to her, “Hi Ms. Perky!!” in his booming voice.

In fact, the children in her room are so used to it by now, that now they glance up quickly and just say, “Frank’s here.” And go about their business.

Today, while our kids were at specials, Ms. Perky came to my room to share what Frank did this morning.

“He YELLED good morning across the room again.” She explained, covering her mouth to control a laugh, “and then he screamed ‘You’re my BEST FRIEND Ms. Perky!’ and ran out the door.

I’m gonna have to have a talk with that boy. He just recently told me I was his best friend.

He’s two-timing me.

(I thank you all from the bottom of my heart.)

You will need to use the cunning that comes with exerience (note: lack of the word "age") to overcome the perkiness of youth.

I have a feeling there's enough Frank that he can have 2 best friends. I think I love that little boy a little more with each story.

Frankly, I don't think he gives a damn about his two-timing ways.

Peace and love zooming your way. The Universe and the interwebs are wonderful places, ain't they?

Kiddo's Kindergarten teacher just sent home a note with saying "he is friends with everyone" which I figure is code for "won't stop talking". LOL

See and here I was picturing some janitor-guy named Frank popping in and out of the Kindergarten classes (with a rough gravelly voice = grown man) and thinking WTH? But after reading a few of the comments, OHHHHH! I get it now - he's kid. Okay, so the two-timing thing is just him flexing his generous social skills - hey, at least you made the list, right? A Kindergarten player...!

Oh my if he isn't the cutest thing ever. Now I picture him as that boy from Up that just wanted to adopt so badly!! Think how boring your day would be without him.

I'm sure your Frank's best friend, but Ms. Perky is Frank's best, ahem, special friend!

While we hate adults who gratuitously kiss ass, there's something completely awesome about a child doing it. Maybe because he doesn't know he's doing it.

I believe Frank will be sneaking in and out to see women for years to come! LOL

When my son was about six he confessed to me that he sometimes pretended he didn't uunderstand the math so that "Mrs. B. would lean over my head to help and I could feel her soft boobies against my neck." I had to tell her. Just had to. I am a high school teacher and know about crushes - even to us old gals.

I believe I have the fourth grade equivalent of Frank in my classroom this year. During centers the other day he told me I should read because I have the "most beautiful reading voice." Every day he tells me that I am the best teacher in the whole school. Then as soon as he walks out my door to his math class, he tells that teacher the same thing! Gotta love him! He always makes me smile--even whenI am having a really crappy day. Can't wait to hear more about Frank this year!
