Someone pass me the aspirin.

Number of times I snapped Jeffrey’s pants for him today? Four.

Number of coats I had to zip up before recess? 17.

Number of coats I had to UNZIP after recess? Two. Why is it easier to get them off than on?

Number of times I had to tie Jane’s tie-dyed shoelaces that are so slippery they won’t stay tied? Five. (How DO they untie when they are triple knotted? HOW?)

Number of children I had to send to the nurse after they picked their noses so much they BLED? Two.

Number of times my boobs got hit while a little one was trying to get my attention? Five. At least. (Tightwad might wonder why they are all bruised this weekend. Or not.) Why can’t I be taller? A good four inches would certainly get them out of range. (I should go get that nursing bra back – then I wouldn’t feel it!)

Number of squished raisins I had to pick up after school? A gazillion. And a half.

Number of naps I’ll be taking after school today? One. And heaven help the person that tries to wake me up.

I will share a lace-tying secret. More knots on top (triple tied) does not add enough friction and they untie.

When you tie the first knot on the laces (simple overhand knot), tie it twice (over-under-over-under).

Then, when you tie the bow (second knot), tie it with two turns and in the reverse order. This is a square knot- first knot right over left, second knot (bow)- left over right. The extra turn noted above adds a great deal of friction and should work on the most slippery of laces.

If I am not making any sense what-so-ever, tell me and I will try to find some pictures.

TGIF!!!

Oh, I so totally know the feeling. Seems like I'm tying my daughter's shoes every 4 minutes, give or take.

Plus I've been vomited on twice today, cleaned it off the floor three times, and stepped in cat yak.

Kindergarten teachers are saints. I have enough trouble with just one kid.

Number of times I've wished I taught kindergarten instead of high school? A bazillion.

When yours pick their noses it's funny and cute. Mine? Not so much.

You definitely need a padded bra..hahahhaha!!!

Thank Goodness it's Friday...And it's a WHOLE nother story when you're in school instead of teaching it... :)

Friday nite and the weekend, you need to throw the bra away for 3 days, kick back and have a cocktail, relax.

Oh how I wish I could've been there! ANY place would've been better than trying to find a comfortable spot with a wrenched shoulder...

Ah, I have so much to look forward to when I start working again next week. Zippers... runny noses... potty breaks. I'll be ready for a nap!

How else am I supposed to get your attention?

Unknown said...

At least you didn't have to send for the janitor because of some kid barfing on the floor. That's a good thing!

Oh no, is he still following her?

I will try and type this as quite as I can, I dont want to be the one to wake you up....lol....so sounds lkike you had an interesting day...I so picked my nose till I bled...lol not, ok...maybe...Im not telling...;)

Sara said...

Those are some grim statistics.

I hope the children whose noses bled got a cone to put around their necks to keep them from picking.

The nose bleed thing... was comforting. lol

Welcome to the weekend.

Coats? Entropy.

Scope said...

Even if you were 4 inches taller, gravity would eventually still pull them down into range.

Freakin' Mary Sunshine today, ain't I? Sorry about that. Have a great weekend.

(whispering) maybe try platform soles and a flak jacket, it could help.

A friend taught me this secret to tying shoes (after my kid was 9!! And we were still constantly re-tying shoes). When you go to wrap around (before the bows) - wrap TWICE, then do the bows. Pretty much works great. Sorry you had such a rough day. I've always said that teachers were paid waaaayyy too little for what they had to deal with!!

I sooooooooooo feel your pain.

Forget the aspirin, where's the vodka?! Liquor stores have to be supported largely by elementary teachers! Happy Weekend, girl!

Make sure you follow up that aspirin with a bottle or two of vodka! ;-)

That booger picking stuff is a deal breaker for me. I will always embarrass the ones who dig for gold. Gross, gross, gross!

I hope you had sweet dreams of obedient self-sufficient children.

Ahhh teaching...comes with the territory!

Hey Vodka, wake up!! Wanna martini??!!

:))))

Bethany said...

Our lives are so eerily similar in the teaching respect. Same numbers over here, almost exactly!! ;) I wish parents would send their kids in pants the kids can snap/button/zip/pull up on their own!

Maureen@IslandRoar said...

As my father would say: there is a special place reserved for you in Heaven. (and a martini waiting, no doubt. And REALLy FLuffY pillows)

Professor Shoelace said...

There are many possible secure shoelace knots that should keep ANY of your kids' shoelaces tied, regardless of how slippery. Try the Ian's Secure Shoelace Knot, the Better Bow Shoelace Knot, or the Turquoise Turtle Shoelace Knot, just to name a few! All of these and more are on Ian's Shoelace Site.
